Today the Steering Committee that is in charge of planning the events dedicated to the 20^th anniversary of adoption of the Constitutional Law on the Statehood of the Republic of Latvia announced that the winner of the logo contest is Luīze Anna Pētersone, aged nine, who designed the singing rooster that appealed to most voters.

On 14 May, the Night of Museums, Solvita Āboltiņa, Speaker of the Saeima welcomed visitors and cast her vote for one of the top five logo designs for the 21 August celebrations.

People will choose from five shortlisted 21 August logo designs

On the Night of Museums on 14 May, all visitors of the main building of the Saeima will have a chance to vote for one of the five proposed logo designs for the 21 August celebrations. The logos designed by children and young people can be viewed on the website www.21augusts.lv devoted to the 20^th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitutional Law on the Statehood of the Republic of Latvia.

Invitation to participate in logo competition

In preparation for the 20^th anniversary of de facto renewal of independence of our country, we are inviting children and youths to take part in a contest of drawings and to design a logo symbolising this significant event. On 21 August 1991, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Latvia adopted the Constitutional Law on the Statehood of the Republic of Latvia, which restored the de facto independence of Latvia and clearly marked the country’s return to the family of democratic Western countries.
